Questions about Vivo's products

I partially posted this in another area, but got no response.  I think it got burried... Here's another go, with more info:

1) Can the forum usage display sub categories within the forum structure.  In other words, something like a book category, and a books - fiction sub category?

2) The Vivo features list says Wiki's are possible, but I haven't found any documentation for that yet.  Is there any documentation for using Wiki's with Vivo?

3)  I've also seen Events in Vivo's features.  Where would I find information about events.  In particular, I'm wondering if Events can be scheduled at various "levels" such as group level events, user profile level events, etc. - and whether a graphical calendar interface is possible (such as a group calendar, and a personal calendar).

4)  This is probably a given, but on the demo site (and support site), it was unclear whether a forum type setup can be used side-by-side with say a news setup using the same Vivo installation.  I'm assuming this is possible - is that correct?

5) Are there plans to continue to develop the forums aspect of Vivo?  It's a nice simple solution, but I'm wondering if more features will be added for forum usage (such as subcategories, notifications, alt mouse overs, **user post counts, etc.) to make it more consistant with a full featured forum tool.

6)  Can Vivo be used alongside other third party modules - integrating fairly seemlessly?  In particular Ventrian products and Active Forums (or Active profiles)?

7) *New question:  Can the Vivo Web Controls (rating, comments, etc.) be pulled out separately (say for use with a different companies module, or DNN's modules).  So, for example, I'd be interesting is using say a third party profile module, but have Vivo's rating/points/comments used on that third party profile page (or container).

I really like what I've seen so far with Vivo.  Thanks in advance.  BTW, I couldn't find a place to put these general questions, so I put them here because some of them have to do with the forum features.

1) No, it only goes one deep, example -

Forums

  • Topic1
  • Topic2
  • Topic3

2) Page 37 - http://www.vivoware.com/Support/tabid/93/categoryid/16/indexid/390/Default.aspx

3) It doesn't do the "levels" thing. There is a calendar that integrates with the directory view. When you click on a date, only items for that date will appear.

4) Do you mean on the same page? Or same site?

5) Things are constantly added and improved on. Those things may be added in the future, but I can not give a time line. Also, it is open source, so....

6) Yes, with some, that's what we have the WebServices module for.

7) I don't think that will work.

Thank you for the info.

Regarding #4, from reading the documentation and your responses, I think I found the answers I was looking for here.  Thank you.

Is there a features suggestion area on this site/forum and/or a roadmap to see what types of enhancements are in the works?

Here's what I'm looking at:  So far, I really like this suite of products, and will likely use it as the primary foundation for my social networking.  However, ActiveSocial has a few features that would work really well that Vivo doesn't have (yet).  So, I'm trying to decide if I can use Active + Vivo to get the combined features I'm looking at.  Or, better yet, find one solution that has these features.  Once I discovered Vivo's cross categorizing, and commenting tools, I really want to go in Vivo's general direction (at least in those areas).  Here's a few of the Active features, that might be great enhancements to Vivo:

1) Social hierarchy for some of the tools.  In particular group and personal level events, blogs, etc.  It appears that the blogs & posts sort of work that way, but events at the group and personal level would be great.  This way you could show a group's events, and a simple personal event "manager" (post/edit/delete).  For a grouping tool, this is a fairly nice feature that works hand-in-hand with groups for clubs, schools, gamers, etc. so a club could schedule it's meetings for example.

2) The forum is suprisingly solid, but lacking a few key components.  In particular displaying the last poster on the list views, sub categories, and especially showing the topic one is responding to when they are posting a response).

3)  My personal problem, I'm trying to workaround: Active has a nice hierarchal setup (group AND personal level forums, events, etc.).  Vivo has an excellent points/rating/comments system connected to the user profile.   I especially love Vivo's cross categorization, site wide tools like comments/rating, etc.  The best scenario would be a hierarchal profile for groups/personal (allowing group AND personal level events, blogs, posts, etc.), coupled with Vivo's rating tools for the user profile.  That's why I asked about using Vivo's rating tools as a standalone that might be used on Active's profile.

QUESTION:

Can the events/directory thing you mentioned in your response be filtered (via URL or some other method) by user and group?  So, in that way, perhaps display a group or individual's calendar?  Even if it were housed into a separate template or something.  The concern here would be security permissions/roles (so events can be private, group only, etc.).  While I'd like a graphical calendar, I'd gladly go with something with "leveled events" whether there was a graphical calendar or not.

Please go to http://support.vivoware.com to see the Road Map.

1. You could setup personal Events. There is an option for "Current User Only" in Search Directory. In IndexItem there is a security option to allow the user to select Public, Private, or By Request. The same applies for Groups, where the user sets it as a private gorup.

2. You can change the settings in Forums to show last poster. For this example, we are showing by Last Post rather than Reply, but that is a setting that can be changed in Search Directory. If you would like to request more features, please add to support.vivoware.com

3. See #1

4. See Search Directory filters in module settings for users/groups only. We have a simple calendar for events that is on the demo. It is not a full calendar size like the DNN Events, but works as a filter for a specific day.

Thank you - that was helpful. I'll post any feature requests in the support.vivoware.com area.
