You could copy the Default template and create a new template (change Template.xml file). Strip out all of the stuff except member list/view from the template to use for our Groups module. However, you have to have GroupId in the URL to make this work.

Not running the clean script will be an issue. It also looks like you need to add the Network Service and ASP.Net machine accounts to the folder permissions.
